java.io.IOException - Open tunnel - failure [ok] [JaikuBerry 0.6]

all I can say is that it does work for others, and I've heard
specifically about the Pearl. If your TCP/IP access is working in
general (like, if you have IM+ or similar app working already),
then it's really confusing, because jaikuBerry's not exactly doing
rocket-science.... just HTTP requests. Lemme know if there's any
way I can help.
It's hard to troubleshoot from a distance, especially when I
don't have a pearl. You might want to check your firewall settings,
if you have the firewall turned on I suppose that could be messing
with it. On my 8700, that's Settings -> Options -> Security
Options -> Firewall.
I guess you have settings in Settings -> Options ->
Advanced Options -> TCP already? That's the "tunnelling" part.
When a lot of people get their phones, those settings are blank,
even though they need to be set. There's a page linked from the
jaikuberry page that has good settings for many carriers.
Beyond that, it's hard for me to be much help, as I've never run
into this trouble. Hopefully, over time I'll collect enough "aha!"
moments from users so that most common problems have known
solutions.
I installed the newest version of JaikuBerry, changed from
internet2 to wap, now I get another weird error... "HTTP Response
Code: 302 Moved Temporarily"
Hmmm.... I wonder if there's a change I can make to allow
'internet2' to work. Is that just an alternat way to use TCP/IP,
rather than WAP? Is it inconvenient to use WAP (meaning, should I
bother to try to look into this)?
On the 302: People get this when either their username or
personal key is incorrect. I've only had one case where the person
swore their settings were 100% correct, and that didn't fix it.
Ok, I occassionally get "Bad DNS", and I'm not sure why. But,
it's rare, and the second try always works for me. I get the
feeling it happens when my phone is getting email or other phone
status while I'm trying to use the network.
I think I'm seeing that internet2 and wap are just two APNs (two
of the same thing). Perhaps your carrier is blocking port 80 on
internet2, but not wap. So, unless you tell me differently, I'm not
going to look into this further.
wap and internet2 are two APNs used by T-Mobile USA. One of them
worked for me. One generates the java.io.IOException error. I'm now
using wap. That might not work for everyone on T-Mobile, but it
works for me. I think my initial problem is that I used the wrong
APN.

Wow. Thanks very much for your response. I am also running GTalk, Instant Messaging, and Yahoo Messenger, in addition to Google's Pearl GMail client.

"My Contacts"
org.json.me.JSONException: A JSONObject text must begin with '{' at character 1 of java.io.IOException: Bad DNS Address
Exception: java.io.IOException: Bad DNS Address
Now, to dig out what I'm goofing up.

No problem... I'm glad it's working for you!
